Hawsleigh Ave, St Kilda East
An interior renovation of an untouched Art Deco apartment, circa 1938, in Melbourne’s St Kilda East. A design which optimises the large footprint which was currently very segregated and also maintains the integrity of the space. Contemporary and respectful spaces for a young couple.
The dark and segregated rooms were opened up to create larger connected spaces within the same volume. Crisp white joinery, natural stone and light timber are used in the kitchen, bathroom and living spaces with soft grey panelled robes in the bedrooms. The new fireplace is clad with Japanese tiles and ads contemporary character, while existing cornices and ceiling details in the space were retained.
