Chaddesley Ave, St Kilda East

The Brief

The clients of this original Art Deco home wanted to improve the dark and disfunctional spaces in the house, primarily the ground floor kitchen, meals and laundry, to create better entertaining spaces both indoor and outdoor while adding an additional bathroom. The house needed to reflect the way they live today which has changed over time, now with adult children who come and go regularly.

The Solution

A contemporary steel addition with floor to ceiling glass and an open pergola structure creates a strong connection between both indoor and outdoor. Its square form compliments the existing circular and triangular primary shapes found at the rear of the property.

The interior design both compliments and enhances the existing context of the house thoughtful integration and space planning. Each detail is thoughtful and consistent, using high quality and long-lasting materials.
